Dear Magruder Laser Vision Guests and Friends,

I hope you and your family are doing well, both health wise and economically, through the COVID lockdown.

My goals for the quarantine were two: keep our team healthy and be ready to safely take care of our patients, who we think of as our guests, when the restrictions are eased.

I’m happy to report that so far all of the MLV team is healthy, and we’ve been able to maintain full employment. The entire team has worked tirelessly to get us ready for the new normal. We have been seeing emergency cases in the Par Street office on a limited basis and are now ready to resume non emergent care including surgery. Meanwhile, we have taken quite a few steps to improve our services to you, including safety protocols and opening a new South Orlando location adjacent to Sand Lake Hospital for your convenience and expanding services.

We have instituted CDC and DOH recommended screening and examination protocols which include:

  • Prescreening before appointments

  • Convenient parking lot check in

  • Limited appointments per hour

  • Masks for staff and patients

  • Sterile system wipe downs of rooms and equipment after each use

  • HEPA filtration in our common spaces

  • And there’s more coming

We are in the midst of constructing a brand new in-office surgery center at our College Park Par Street location. We will now be able to perform Refractive Cataract surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange, and Intraocular Contact Lens procedures right in within our office. This ultra-modern facility will be a fully AAAA certified center with the highest level of sterility control and procedural technology. Additionally, this facility will allow much more scheduling flexibility for our patients.

We have incorporated telehealth to allow remote online videoconferencing with our patients and referring doctors. These include follow ups as well as new patient consultations.

To maintain social distancing when we re-open, patient’s family (and friends) will be temporarily prohibited from coming inside the office for appointments, except as absolutely necessary, such is in the case of guests who require assistance.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Jeffrey Robin, a highly experienced LASIK surgeon, who joined us April 1st. He brings decades of knowledge about corneal refractive surgery and additionally is a warm and caring patient centric doctor.

New policies will allow our referred patients the option of fewer visits to our office. For example, with your eye doctor’s recommendation and complete eye examination plus a videoconference consultation, we will, in many cases, be able to schedule same day procedures.

Our new South Orlando location means a much shorter drive for many of our guest.

What you can do to help? Be patient, and honest with our new screening and examination procedures. Give us feedback what we can do better, and above all keep yourself well.

Thank you, be safe, and we look forward to taking care of you and yours for generations to come.

Sincerely,
Dr. Brock Magruder, Jr.
