First in Robotic Laser Cataract Surgery
The ALLY Robotic Laser Cataract Surgery System is the first robotic laser cataract surgery system in the world—and we helped design it.
- Our surgeons worked closely with engineers at LENSAR to develop the system.
- Dr. Shumski performed the very first Robotic Laser Cataract Surgery in the United States.
- Soon after, Dr. Hunter became the third surgeon in the nation to perform the procedure.
This milestone put our practice at the forefront of robotic cataract surgery worldwide.
First Quad-Optics Procedure in the World
Astigmatism can be corrected in several ways: toric lens implants, the Light Adjustable Lens, EVO ICL, and laser vision correction. For most patients, only one method is needed.
In 2024, however, we treated a patient with an extraordinary case—16 diopters of astigmatism. Over the course of a year, we performed a carefully planned series of procedures in which the patient received three different lens implants inside their eye plus laser vision correction.
This pioneering approach, which we named the Quad-Optics Procedure, was the first of its kind in the world.
