What is Custom Lens Replacement?

Your eye has a ‘natural lens’ which focuses light inside the eye, helping you to see clearly.

But as we age it stiffens, causing you to lose your range of vision.

This means you’ll need reading glasses or bifocals to focus on close objects.

This is known as ‘presbyopia’.

It happens to everyone by the age of 50, and can be frustrating.

You’ll start to experience things like:

  • Struggling to read your phone or small print without holding it farther away or needing to use larger fonts.
  • Frustration with needing reading glasses for menus, books, or even text messages.
  • Feeling like your vision is “just not what it used to be,” especially for close-up tasks.

And the constant annoyance of putting on and taking off your reading glasses for everyday tasks, adding unnecessary frustration to your routine.

The stage after lens stiffening is where the lens becomes cloudy, known as Cataracts, which is much more serious and can lead to vision loss or even blindness if untreated.

With Custom Lens Replacement we replace the ‘stiff’ lens with a new custom lens implant that never degrades making you free from glasses.

This means:

  • Freedom from glasses and contacts: No more juggling multiple pairs of glasses or dealing with the hassle of contacts—it’s complete visual freedom.
  • Never worrying about cataracts again: CLR permanently replaces your natural lens, eliminating the risk of developing cataracts forever.
  • Extended range of vision: Custom lenses let you see clearly at all distances—near, medium, and far—without the limitations of single-focus lenses.
  • Clear night vision: Improved clarity in low-light conditions can make driving at night and navigating dim environments easier and safer.

Our doctors conduct a full eye examination.

Here’s what we check:

  • Surface of the eye: We assess for any signs of moderate or severe dryness that could affect healing or results.
  • Natural lens: We examine your lens to ensure it’s clear and free from early signs of cataracts.
  • Eye health: We rule out conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, uveitis (eye inflammation), and other potential issues that could impact your candidacy.
  • Best procedure for you: If there’s a procedure better suited to your needs than CLR, we’ll let you know.
