Dr. Brock Magruder Jr is pleased to announce construction of a state-of-the-art intraocular surgery suite in Magruder Laser Vision’s College Park office. “We are building our own office-based surgical suite because it’s the future of intraocular surgery. It’s better for both our guests and the team because we control the schedule, equipment, sterility, staffing, and management. It’s better for our patients because it’s more convenient, more comfortable, and offers our high-touch offerings with greater flexibly. We also anticipate cost savings both for patients and third-party payers.”

MLV has a co-development arrangement with iOR Partners, a national company that has over 25 years of experience in the surgical field. iOR Partners offers expertise on the construction, staffing, training, supplying, certification and outcome tracking of office-based surgery suites. Dr. Magruder Jr., who recently retired from medical practice to become CEO of Magruder Laser Vision, is committed to providing Central Florida with a World Class Vision Correction Center and has been delighted with the relationship with iOR Partners.

Demolition and construction began in April during the statewide quarantine, and procedures are slated to begin in the first part of June. According to Dr Magruder: “This new facility is customized to our exact specifications based on our over 30 years of experience. We’ll have the latest technology, the best surgeons and the safest environment right in our own office.”

From the patient’s perspective, Office Based Surgery seamlessly integrates clinic and surgery in one location, providing a comfortable and personalized premium surgical experience. Procedures such as Refractive Cataract Surgery, Refractive Lens Exchange, and Intraocular Contact Lens placement will all be performed in the new center. Magruder Laser Vision will offer the option of surgery in both eyes in the same day for most of these procedures.

“We are excited to add this new patient-centric amenity to our practice. My only regret is personally retiring from surgery before I could do procedures there myself!” said Dr. Magruder.
